Afrooz Afghani

Afrooz Afghani RYT 200    Newport Beach

Afrooz is a Yoga Alliance RYT-200 Certified Yoga Instructor with a PhD in Kinesiology and a current professor at UCLA and George Washington University. She is a published author of several books on health promotion and prevention of bone/muscle loss. She is also the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Spine as well as a frequent reviewer for the Journal of Yoga & Physical Therapy. Afrooz combines her passion for yoga with extensive knowledge in anatomy, exercise physiology, and nutrition to provide a truly transformational experience in a peaceful space where students can practice yoga without judgement, ego, or expectation but with a focus on learning and improving. Afrooz is especially interested in teaching the yin style of yoga because it gives her the flexibility and time to share her knowledge during class while also guiding students with the poses. She has been teaching yin weekly since April 2016.
