Our Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is now part of the landscape. Whether it proves to be a boon or a burden remains to be seen, but we can choose how we use it. At yinyoga.com, we do not use AI to generate our content. We do use AI in limited, supporting roles: as a proofreader, editor, fact-checking aid, search tool, and occasionally as an illustrator. When AI is used to create an image, this will be clearly noted.

We conducted one experiment in which an article was written entirely by AI, under close supervision. This was the September 3, 2024 article, When is the Best Time to Do Yin Yoga? The article was clearly noted as AI-generated, and readers were invited to comment on the result. The general feedback was that this approach did not add sufficient value, and we have not repeated it.

Before AI tools were available, all editing, proofreading, and research support were done in-house.* Our use of AI in these limited roles is simply an evolution of those same internal processes. Our intention is to be transparent. If you have thoughts on this policy, we welcome your feedback.

* “In house “means, Bernie and Nathalie. Yes, basically it is the two of us who do everything to keep this website going. Since the site is free, we don’t have funding to hire outside help. The only time we do use outside help is when the technology defeats us and we have to hire web developers and hosting experts.

About us

Bernie Clark     Vancouver, B.C.

Bernie has been teaching yoga and meditation since 1998. He has a bachelor degree in Science from the University of Waterloo and combines his intense interest in yoga with an understanding of the scientific approach to investigating the nature of things. His ongoing studies have taken him deeply inside mythology, comparative religions and psychology. All of these avenues of exploration have clarified his understanding of the ancient Eastern practices of yoga and meditation. His teaching, workshops and books have helped many students broaden their own understanding of health, life and the source of true joy.

Bernie’s yoga practice encompasses the hard, yang-styles, such as Ashtanga and Power Yoga, and the softer, yin-styles, as exemplified in Yin Yoga. His meditation experience goes back to the early 80’s when he first began to explore the practice of Zen meditation. During those days, while he struggled with the conflict between practice and theory, Bernie also worked as a member of the executive team of one of Canada’s oldest and largest Hi-Technology companies.
