I practiced Sivananda yoga in the 70’s to relive stress during university days in Montreal. When I moved out west, Iyengar was popular, but it was really Ashtanga that enticed me to keep a steady practice and take teacher training in 2009 with the Yoga Alliance certified, Trinity/Gaiatri program. At the moment I am teaching Ashtanga basics, Flow, and senior’s yoga.
My day job as an entomologist, involves hours sitting at a microscope. Since discovering and practicing Yin yoga, I have noticed that the lower back ache that I had developed has disappeared! More importantly, the long held meditative poses have encouraged present mindedness, increased flexibility and profound relaxation.
In May 2013, 60 hours of Yin Teacher Training was completed with Bernie Clark and Diana Batts, and I look forward to passing along this ancient, yet upcoming practice.
