Wendy Cook Boston, Massachusetts
Wendy fell in love with yoga during a 10-day silent Vipassana retreat in a forest monastery in Thailand in 1987. Already a teacher of Slow Flow Vinyasa since 2001, she trained in Yin with Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers in 2005. Observing that most people’s nervous systems are in overdrive and depleted, she has seen the balancing and rejuvenating effects of a Yin practice. She loves introducing Yin to yogis who have only practiced yang styles of yoga. She has seen many a person squirm, look restless and confused for the first 30 minutes of class, only to be blown away by the depth of their experience by the end. Wendy shares her curiosity around many themes including anatomy, breath, mindfulness, kinesthesia etc, yet her favorite theme, is encouraging students to be their own best friend. With a nursing degree from a lifetime ago, she is also a freshly trained Alexander Technique teacher.
