Serina Carpenter      Hattiesburg

Anticipating retirement after a 43 year nursing career, I began a search for my next chapter.  I had dabbled with Yoga for 15 years and began a regular practice but wanted to know more. I completed 200 hour training just to dig deeper in my personal practice.  The universe offered me an opportunity to teach Yin at the Yoga Room. I traveled to New York to attend Biff Mithoefer’s training. I fell in love with Yin and the emphasis on “functional” positioning, freedom to adapt teaching to our on style and his instruction “I might not do that in my practice but you can add it to yours”.  I invested in courses, books etc., spending time with Sarah Powers, Paul Grilley and of course Bernie Clark.  I felt so much freedom to teach using Bernie’s “yes, no, maybe”.

Teaching Yin since 2018, I incorporated therapeutic touch/light massage until Covid.  We-my class-adapted to zoom with self massage. Looking forward to getting back to what I feel to be a true calling of Yin hands on practice.
