Excerpt from Chapter 20: Energy Medicine
“When ancient sages used words like prana, pneuma, spiritus, or chi, their language was metaphorical, symbolic, and experiential. Today’s language of science is analytical, precise, and replicable. Yet both traditions have been pointing towards the same mystery: the subtle vitality or force that animates life, guides healing, and promotes wholeness. Today, we can measure many such forces—bioelectric currents, biomagnetism, piezoelectric charges, streaming potentials, and even cellular light emissions. We now know that cells speak to each other in a vast, multidimensional language of touch, pressure, ions, chemicals, and light. The energies of life, or life energy, is not a superstition. It is a scientific reality—just not yet fully mapped. As our tools and understanding evolve, so too must our respect for the wisdom of the past. Prana may no longer need to be explained through myth, but it still moves us in ways that science is only beginning to grasp.
“In healing, as in life, balance matters. Even the gentlest energies—prana, chi, touch, breath—can overwhelm when pushed too far. The art lies not just in accessing energy, but in listening for when enough is enough. In my own healing journey, I learned the hard way to listen to my body.”
