5 Elements Yin & Restorative YTT - August - Colorado

This forum is for teachers and studios to announce any interesting news about Yin Yoga workshops, retreats and classes. This allows folks to add their information without having to wait for the Yin Yoga administrator to post the news. I would suggest to all posters - put the date of the training in the title/header. NOTE: this is only for Yin Yoga trainings: other trainings will be deleted.

Join internationally acclaimed yoga instructors Kali Basman (http://kalidurgayoga.com/) and Kylie Roswell for a Yin & Restorative Yoga Teacher Training will focus on hands-on, anatomical, structural, and energetic based practices for restoration of the body mind. Blending Buddhist Concepts with the Eight Limbs of Yoga, the nourishing waters and sacred landscape of SunWellness in Manitou Springs, Colorado will serve as our home for the week.

A specific focus on Pratyahara - the Great Withdrawal - will be encouraged by drawing the boundaries around retreat life to train in the principles of stillness, spaciousness, and quietude. Disconnecting from normative social contexts and devices is recommended during our time together to allow the nervous system to enter the deep folds of rich restoration.

We will touch on the realms of resetting the nervous system, healing from past traumas, dissolving tensions, increasing musculoskeletal resiliency, strengthening joint stability, and cultivating elasticity in the body mind. We use embodied and informed anatomy and alignment, scientific bases for sequencing, and psychological self inquiry grounded in Buddhist practices.

Our work together as Sangha, spiritual community, will be within the domain of Yin Yoga and will contribute to your continuing education as a Yoga practitioner, inquisitor, and/or facilitator.

About SunMountain in Colorado:

Nestled near the base of Pikes Peak and adjacent to the majestic Garden of the Gods Park, the SunMountain Center is a creative sanctuary for wellness and serenity. Steeped in history and local lore, the two historic Manitou Springs, CO properties offer lodging accommodations for wellness retreats or bed-and-breakfast guests. What makes these two properties, Onaledge and Rockledge, so unique and compelling is that they were designed in Elizabethan style in 1913 and built with wood, stucco and red stone indigenous to the area.

With miles of rustic walking and meditation trails and an on-site organic farm, the world-class urban farm property provides inspiration through nature, art, and locally sourced cuisine. The six acres of terraced gardens, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains, are home to chickens, geese, and rabbits as well as Jezebel the resident pig.

Retreat guests and vacationing visitors choose from 11 uniquely decorated and appointed rooms, which can accommodate up to 33 guests. Accommodations for up to 50 people total are available upon request. A wholesome, nutritious vegetarian breakfast is included for vacationers and retreat attendees also receive gourmet lunch and dinner prepared by the in-house chef, featuring ingredients from the onsite urban farm. Guests can partake in activities such as touring the land, on-site yoga, venturing into the historic city of Manitou Springs, horseback riding in the Garden of the Gods, taking a tour of the local Mineral Hot Springs, escaping to our neighboring SunWater Spa for a blissful soak in the Hot Mineral Tubs, as well as many other enticing endeavors.

DURGA EXCURSIONS TESTIMONIALS
“I learned so much about myself through the elements,
“Thank you SO much for sharing your magic and knowledge. You inspired me to continue on this yoga journey and deepen my knowledge. I love the balance between the two of you, it was a beautiful mix of yin and yang. I felt really supported and treated as an equal. I love how egoless you both are. It proves to me that this practice takes time to understand and grow into the yogi I am meant to be. I also appreciated how often you checked in with the group and made sure we were all content. You show what it means to be a good retreat leader and inspired me to become the same one day,.
