Re: Si joint pain and twisting

Bernie thank you for this insight. My student with SI joint dysfunction, says her doc says she needs more hip mobility, that the SI joint isn't too flexible. the right is tighter than the left, though the spasm are on the left. Like another post in the forum about conflicting advice on asymmetrical ...

question about yin and patellofemoral syndrome

Thank you for both, Dr. Jo's link and the one to your article. I've sent them on to her too. Today we did toe squat and ankle stretch, malasana. Then went onto our backs for supported butterfly and took wall support for reclining swan and happy baby. I hope she begins to see the value of working pos...

question about yin and patellofemoral syndrome

Bernie, the story is that this student wants to 'conquer' the lotus pose (I have counselled her about respecting the body' limitations and the need to stabilize the knee and strengthen the quads for her safety. I'm excited to work with her to teach her how to adapt her yoga for her body. I totally h...

question about yin and patellofemoral syndrome

Bernie, I have a client who has patellofemoral syndrome --- her hata teacher sent her to me for hip flexibility. My understanding is that she needs more quads strengthening, and I'm wondering if yin would be contraindicated or what would you do to still get into the hip without compromising the legs?

Thank you Bernie. I happened to come across this post while googling. I remember asking this question via email and not on the forum. I appreciate all the extra research you've shared. So while I use strengthening exercises for her lower abdomen, I can still use yin for her limbs and neck etc to wor...

Yin and the chakras

Bernie, referring to the thread on the question on the chakras. Would you say you'd map the yin meridians with how the element ties in with the chakra or from the emotional aspects as well? For example, if I were doing root chakra work, I might be inclined to do kidney and meridian (for fear) and th...

question about your spine your yoga

Dear Bernie, I absolutely loved the last course on Yoga Intl and am looking at 'Your spine, your yoga'. I teach yin and have been getting students with varied spinal issues. I do so want to go deeper into yin as therapy -- both for the body and mind. In the past two months, I've had students with re...

Need to understand why sphibx is contraindicated in migraine

Dear Bernie, Would you shed some more light on why sphinx is contraindicated in migraines. The crocodile is good for blood pressure so I thought this restful pose with head in hands would be good for issues of the head. Moreover, since the gallbladder meridian goes through the head I reckoned it wou...
